Christmas Order Cut Offs

Rural Addresses or Perth or Darwin: Order before December 13th

Metro Addresses (Excluding Perth and Darwin): Order before December 18th

Express Orders: Order before Thursday 19th.

Pre Orders:

We will endeavour to have all pre orders dispatched by mid December so they arrive in time for Christmas, but unfortunately we can’t guarantee this. Due to the uncertain nature of shipping/port/customs delays during this busy time of year, we don’t want to promise you anything we can’t  be certain we will be able deliver on.

Of course we will do our best to deliver before Christmas, and everything is still scheduled to run on time at this stage, we will keep you updated if anything changes.

Will you be having a Boxing Day Sale?

No we don't participate in Boxing Day Sales. You may be interested to shop our discontinued lines and colours at reduced prices on our Sale page. https://www.saltliving.com.au/collections/sale

Are you an Australian business?

Yes we are Australian owned and operated. We are based in Kirra, on the Southern Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Our Salt Living product collections begin in Australia, where they are designed by Salt Living founder, Jacinta Bishop, in Coolangatta, Queensland in close collaboration with our production house partners in Northern China. Our linen is woven from flax that is grown in France and certified by the European Flax Standard. Our production house artisans will dye, weave, cut and sew our linen, individually packaging it in linen drawstring pouches, before it is shipped across the seas to where it all began- Coolangatta, Queensland.

Do you have a shopfront?

No we don't. We are now purely an online business. If you wish to see or feel our linen in person you're welcome to order a free linen swatch. We also offer easy returns and exchanges if you're not 100% in love with your purchase.

Is Natural Stripe coming back in stock?

Our natural stripe won't be returning. However we are designing and developing a new neutral design for all of you neutral lovers!

Some colours/sizes are sold out, are they ever coming back?

It really depends. Some products/colours are part of our core collection and we absolutely intend on restocking them at some point. As a small boutique business our production cycle ican take a long time, and we sometimes need to prioritise higher demand products/colours over others.

Some colours/ products are discontinued however, and won't ever be coming back. For example: Seafoam, Blue Stripe, Natural Stripe, Table Linen and baby bed linen.

Pre Orders

How do Salt pre orders work?

We generally receive about 4 - 6 containers per year, trying our best to maintain good stock levels. If somthing is sold out, but we have more coming on our next container, then we will list it as Pre-Order. You will be able to place your order as normal, the difference is your credit card won't be charged until a few days before your order is dispatched to you from our Coolangatta warehouse. We keep you updated via email on expected delivery times, and when your payment will be coming out. We highly recommend pre-ordering, instead of waiting until it comes back in stock, because some colours or sizes have actually PRE-sold out in the past. So we want to give you your best chance of getting what you want.

What is the benefit of pre ordering?

To secure your desired item, we highly recommend pre-ordering, because some colours or sizes have actually been known to PRE-sell out before even becoming available online to the public. So we want to give you your best chance of getting what you're waiting for. Pre orders also take priority, so our preorder customers may receive their orders up to a week earlier than it's available online.

If I pre order do I pay upfront?

You won't pay anything upfront. You will checkout as usual, providing your shipping and credit card details, however your payment won't be processed until 48 hours before your order is dispatched to you.

If I pre order, can I change my mind?

Yes of course, please email or call our friendly customer support team if you wish to edit or cancel your order.

When will pre orders be shipped?

Your pre-order will generally be shipped within 1 -2 days of payment being processed.

Will my pre-order arrive before Christmas?

We will endeavour to have all pre orders dispatched by mid December so they arrive in time for Christmas, but unfortunately we can’t guarantee this. Due to the uncertain nature of shipping/port/customs delays during this busy time of year, we don’t want to promise you anything we can’t  be certain we will be able deliver on.

Of course we will do our best to deliver before Christmas, and everything is still scheduled to run on time at this stage, we will keep you updated if anything changes.

Colours & Swatches

What if I can't decide on a colour?

Don't worry, we've got you :) We offer our customer the opportunity to order FREE swatches of our linen so you can see and feel the linen before you buy.

How long do swatches take to arrive?

We send our FREE swatches in a stamped envelope. Australia Post advises these take 8-10 business days to arrive. Unfortunately we can't provide tracking.

If you still haven't received your swatches after 10 business days, please email us at shop@saltliving.com.au and we'll post you another set.

Is your white vivid white?

Our pure white products are a vivid white, however all of our striped products are woven with an off-white flax linen yarn. Please be sure to order a free linen swatch if you are unsure about our colours.

My ticking stripe product looks too creamy coloured compared to the photos on the website.

All of our striped products are woven with an off-white flax linen yarn. We've found that the off-white colours do freshen up really nicely after the first wash prior to use.

Our website photos were taken with lots of natural lighting through the windows. Depending on the colour temperature of the bulbs used in your home, our colours can look slightly different in different environments. (For example our blues may look more grey, or our whites warmer and creamier under a warm light bulb or lamp) We recommend ordering a swatch first to check how the colour looks in your particular space. We offer our customers this service for free.

We want you to be 100% satisfied, so if you decide the colours aren't quite working for your space, pease don't hesitate to get in touch with us at shop@saltliving.com.au.

It's also worth noting our linen drawstring bags aren't pre-washed, and therefore may have a slightly different colour to the finished product inside.

About Linen

Does linen have thread count?

Unlike other fabrics such as cotton, linen is not measured by thread count, but rather by GSM (grams per square metre), rating the heaviness and in turn the density of the fabric. To compare, denim has a GSM of about 400, while lightweight cotton has a GSM of around 100-130. Our Salt Living 100% French Flax linen is woven to be between 170 - 190 GSM, depending on the particular product. This density gives our linen a luxurious strength, while still feeling light enough to provide excellent breathability in warmer weather

What is the gsm?

Our Salt Living 100% French Flax linen is woven to be between 170 - 190 GSM, depending on the particular product. This density gives our linen a luxurious strength, while still feeling light enough to provide excellent breathability in warmer weather

Is Salt linen European?

Our linen is certified as genuine European Flax, and is produced in line with the EUROPEAN FLAX® ethical and environmental standards including: no irrigation, a rotation crop with no GMO, low use of fertiliser and pesticides with no defoliant, natural field retting, a carbon sink (that stores 400,000 tons of Co2 each year) and zero waste from the flax crop; as the whole plan is used in production.

Is Salt linen ethically made?

Salt linen is W.R.A.P certified, meaning uur linen is produced by a production house that adheres to Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production standards of safe, lawful, humane, and ethical practices. This includes prohibition of forced labor and child labor, proper lawful compensation and benefits, and a safe and healthy working environment. Learn more about WRAP’s 12 Principles here.

Is Salt linen Oeko-Tex certified?

Yes Salt linen is Oeko-Tex certified, meaning our linen has been tested, and cleared for substances and that may be harmful to human health, as credited by the STANDARD 100 OEKO-TEX® certification of our manufacturing partners.

Does Salt linen have any certifications?

Our Salt Living 100% French linen bedding has been environmentally and ethically certified by the European Flax Standard, Oeko-Tex and WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production.)

What are the benefits of choosing linen bedding over other alternatives?

Many of you would already know and love linen for its timeless style, breathability and hypoallergenic qualities. Linen is a naturally breathable fabric that can absorb moisture without trapping bacteria. It is easy to care for, being machine washable and moth resistant.

Salt linen is between 170 - 190 gms, this density gives our linen a luxurious strength, while still feeling light enough to provide excellent breathability in warmer weather.

Aside from its luxurious feel, linen is an environmentally consciousfabric choice for many reasons. When untreated, linen is 100% biodegradable; although, you won’t need to get rid of your bed linen any time soon, because linen is naturally incredibly durable, making it an excellent long-term investment.

Linen is made from flax, a bast fibre. Bast fibres derive from the inner fibrous layer of plants, and are seen as sustainable primarily because theircultivation requires little irrigation or treatmentin comparison to other fabrics, and impact on soils is low. Flax can actually be grown on arid terrain that cannot support the production of other crops.

Linen Care

Is Salt linen machine washable?

Do not bleach, soak, use fabric softeners or other harsh chemicals. Your linen will soften over time, retaining their relaxed, indulgent texture.

Do I iron my linen?

Most of our customers don't worry about ironing their linen, they simply embrace the natural crinkles and textural quality that linen has. However, a percentage of our customers do love to iron their linen and we love that for them! We suggest a linen setting, or a cool - warm heat but never a high setting.

Can I tumble dry Salt linen?

We recommend line drying in shade however, if you must tumble dry, please use a low - med setting but never a high heat.

Can I use fabric softener when washing my linen?

No, we do not recommend using any fabric softener type products, nor soaking, bleaching or vanish type products- as these contain chemicals which are likely to damage the integrity of the fibres, therefore weakening them. Your linen won't last as long if washing with these products.
